Bayesian Analysis of Many-Pole Fits of Hadron Propagators in Lattice QCD

چکیده

A common procedure in Lattice QCD is to calculate a correlation function in a certain channel and then fit it as a sum of several exponentials [1– 4]. The parameters of the fits are estimated by minimizing χ. To find the errors, ideally the calculations should be repeated many times, but this is impractical. Usually the jacknife or the bootstrap is performed. Instead here we use Bayes’s theorem to derive the parameters’ probability distribution for given data from the probability of the data for given parameters. Usually one determines the number of poles by comparing χ for different models. It is very often ambiguous. Here we use the parameters probability distribution to calculate relative probabilities of the possible models with given data. We perform the Bayesian analysis for some model functions imitating Lattice QCD propagators. Then we apply this method to analyze SU(2) hadron propagators.

Baryon Spectroscopy from Lattice QCD

Experiments show that many excited-state hadrons exist, and there are significant experimental efforts to map out the QCD resonance spectrum, such as Hall B and the proposed Hall D at Jefferson Lab, ELSA associated with the University of Bonn, COMPASS at CERN, PANDA at GSI, and BESIII in Beijing. Hence, there is a great need for ab initio determinations of such states in lattice QCD. To extract...

The Stochastic Laplacian Heaviside Method in Lattice QCD and its First Applications to Hadron Spectroscopy

Currently, the best way to extract the low-energy predictions of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) is by estimating the QCD path integrals using the Monte Carlo method formulated on a space-time lattice. Determining the hadron mass spectrum is one of the major applications of such an approach. To study a particular state of interest, the energies of all states lying below that state must first be ex...

Field strength correlators in QCD : new fits to the lattice data

We discuss the results obtained by fitting the lattice data of the gauge–invariant field strength correlators in QCD with some particular functions which are commonly used in the literature in some phenomenological approaches to high–energy hadron–hadron scattering. A comparison is done with the results obtained in the original fits to the lattice data.

Contamination of Excited States in Quenched QCD Hadron Propagators

Quenched QCD hadron spectrum is calculated with Wilson’s quark action at β = 5.85 and 6.0 on a 24 × 54 lattice. We discuss the problem of whether we have extracted the mass of the ground state at these β’s without contamination of the excited states. We show that the masses of the first excited states turn out to be consistent with experiment when we are able to obtain the propagators up to the...
